Proposal talk:Editable Graphics

From Strategic Planning

Yes. This is just what Wikimedia should be doing.

I can imagine how editable graphics and animations will open up a lot of opportunities for people to improve illustrations and teaching. Beyond that it will be a tool for loads of other stuff which other people more creative than I will come up with - stuff I couldn't even imagine until one day it's there and I can't imagine being without it.

Wikimedia doesn't create encyclopedias or dictionaries. It provides tools to enable others (the Wikimedia project communities) to create those things. This tool is the next step up from editable text. Wikimedia should go there.

Maybe we can get sponsorship and collaboration from Google on this one? It would be a really cool tool for them to add to Wave. Filceolaire 20:11, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

R (programming language)

The R programming language could be used to "produce publication-quality graphs" (Quote from Wikipedia article). --Fasten 14:19, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
