Proposal talk:More precise referencing
Some proposals will have massive impact on end-users, including non-editors. Some will have minimal impact. What will be the impact of this proposal on our end-users? -- Philippe 01:11, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
An editor could support sentence referencing by splitting text into separate lines after each dot at the end of a sentence (but not inside numbers or in groups of dots). For purposes of indentation the following sentence would have to begin with a continuation sign for "same indentation, no line feed". --Fasten 14:42, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
Unique section ID
Sections could be given a unique section ID, which could be combined with BugID 9106 ("Verifiable links to anchors would allow a 'What links here' function for anchors"). The unique section ID would allow to number sentences within a section and to rename sections without disrupting references to a section. --Fasten 14:42, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
The same kind of idea came to my mind when reading this proposal. A possible solution would be to highlight sentences which are referenced when hovering the footnote flag.
However this would be quite tricky to implement : what about multiple sourcing, syntax readability, etc. But I strongly encourage people to excogitate about this. Skippy le Grand Gourou (talk) 16:34, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
