Sue, My first reaction to your "letter to the editors" is that you took the brave step of putting your job on the line for what you believe are the best interests of the Foundation which you committed yourself to "run" (I love your use of that word). You have against you the Wikimedia projects' nomenklatura, which seems to include Jimmy Wales himself, and the multitude of their minions. In your favor are the realities of a great idea run amok, for lack of appropriate transparency, checks and balances, the usual trappings of any democracy and civilized community. You are genuinely concerned and addressing what could make or brake the Wikimedia Foundation and its projects. Please accept my compliments for your insight and my best wishes for success in this most adventurous endeavor. That's what makes it fun for you, I guess. If so, I appreciate that also very much.
