Summaries and feedback on the discussion so far

Hi everyone. Many thanks to the many people who've contributed to the discussion about the update and the Editor Trends Study so far. I just wanted to let you know that Foundation staff have collaborated to start condensed summaries and commentary on the threads that present the most compelling points. You can read these summaries at March 2011 Update/Reactions, and please feel free to help with cleaning up the wiki markup, since it's still in pretty rough form.

Thank you!

Who decides what the most compelling points are and which are quietly dropped?

How it worked is that there were 3-4 staff sprinting for an hour. We picked the threads with the most responses and of the most interest to the Foundation when it comes to taking action. Considering there are ~90 threads and more than 300 responses overall just on this Talk page (not to mention the on-Wikipedia responses I cataloged), there's no way we could summarize everything then. We mostly built it for our own purposes as staff and published it for the sake of transparency. It's not meant to be the canonical summary of the entire discussion. That said, if you think there are actionable threads that are not summarized, you should feel free to add them.
