Brand consolidation

Could you elaborate or expand on "huge impact" from brand consolidation for Wikipedia/Wikimedia? In what way exactly will the (potential) end-user benefit? Dedalus 15:06, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the eloquent elaboration. Dedalus 17:51, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Spamming talk pages :-)

Kozuch, you asked on my talk page why I spammed the talk pages, and I know we discussed it briefly there. It was also pointed out that I probably should have explained that to the community, and I should have, so thank you for starting that discussion. Sometimes I get wrapped up on product and forget that it's important to explain what I did and why. I really appreciate you asking the question. I've now posted the reasoning on our village pump. It's at Village_pump#Spamming_the_talk_pages_-_an_explanation. -- Philippe 01:32, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This wiki

This wiki isn't bugzilla - if you want to propose simple configuration changes, do so on your wiki's community discussion page and put it in bugzilla if you have consensus. The suggestion is irrelevant for Proposal:Fight vandalism. Thank you. Mike.lifeguard | @meta 14:49, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Next Steps

Next steps!
It's time to answer some questions! Would you check out the list of questions that were submitted by the community and others and try to answer some? -- Philippe 01:48, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Featureds

I'm toying with the idea of having a "featured question" from the "Questions that need answers" page. Then we might separate out the "Proposal of the Day" and "Question of the Day" into a separate call-out template. What do you think? -- Philippe 17:53, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yup, I was thinking about tearing the Featured proposal from the Participate tempate already and placing it under the languages just at the top of the main page. If we do random both proposal and question, we could place them there make a table with one row and two columns and let them display next to each other.--Kozuch 18:01, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I like the idea, but I'm not fond of the location - the page feels top heavy to me with the languages template there... what about directly under the participation template on the right side? -- Philippe 21:06, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I dont like the MP redesign (it is my fault I did not participate). I think we should go more in the way most wikipedias go - roughly a table of 2 rows and 2 columns (4 content "boxes" altogether). We could really play with the content there, now it is very hard to put more separate chunks of content on the page. I think we should do "News" box too (like Meta for instance) - it is hard to track the doings for folks who constantly do not watch.--Kozuch 21:16, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Converting Word Docs?

Hi Kozuch, and Happy New Year! We've gotten a lot of interviews converted, but we still have a batch left, and I'm looking for a few more volunteers. Can you still help? Wikimail if you can, so I can email you the interviews. Thanks! --Eekim 22:10, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Next steps (again)

Hi Kozuch,

Thanks for all of your contributions to the strategy wiki to date! The strategic planning process wouldn't be where it is today without all of your help. Your early and frequent support was invaluable, and I want you to know how much of a difference that you made. I hope you'll continue to work towards finishing the plan...

We're about to move into the third and final phase of the process, and in many ways, this will be the most challenging. I'm hoping you will continue to be an active presence in shaping the movement's five year strategic plan.

Here are some concrete suggestions as to how you can help moving forward:

  • Add your name to Strategic Planning:Hosts. This just formalizes what I think has been true all along; that you care about this process, and that you're doing what you can to help it along moving forward.
  • Help organize and improve this wiki! Starting next week (January 18, 2010), we're going to be encouraging many more people to come participate, and we want to make sure this wiki is as presentable as possible. A comprehensive list of things to do is at Strategic Planning:To-do list.
  • Invite people to participate! Encourage volunteers to discuss Task force/Recommendations.
  • Finally, we need to clearly describe what this final phase is going to look like. In particular, we could use feedback and discussion on Strategic Planning:Decision-Making.

Let me know what you think! Many, many thanks! ~Philippe 01:03, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

I like this change. Thanks for that. Do you know if there's a better icon to use for the "news" bit that I added to the Main page sidebar today? I just defaulted to what they're using on Meta. Thanks for the help! ~Philippe 10:12, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can change the sidebar news icon to a simple tango style newspaper one and it will look nicely I think. But I think we need an idea for the Wikimedia-pedia icon, I replaced the stars because it was confusing with featured proposals, but I dont like the strategy logo there either. Will try to find something better, maybe I will do mashing-up some tango icons and wikimedia logos (if ever that is legally possible ;).--Kozuch 10:27, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sysop

Thank you for your very kind offer to serve as an administrator for this wiki. I'm creating new administrators today, and you're in the group that I'm giving the administrator tools to. I encourage you to use them rarely, and only after consideration. I prefer that pages be retained if there's any doubt as to their legitimacy. Please assume good faith on a massive scale. If you come across something questionable, please feel free to contact me, I'm almost always online. Please feel free to move proposals to the "Proposal:" namespace, but leave the redirect, for a while, so that if someone has put a link in their favorites, they can find their proposal.

With that said, also feel free to use the block button for inappropriate contributions (spammers should be blocked on sight) and anyone who is blatantly disruptive. The block template at {{blocked}} gives them instructions to contact me if it's an incorrect block. I will keep an eye on your use of the tools the first several days so that we both know that you're using them in the way that's calibrated with the other administrators. Please understand that if I contact you about an action, it's done with my thanks for your volunteerism.

Welcome, and please - again - accept my sincere thanks.
