Proposal talk:To build a well formed wiki markup language

From Strategic Planning

Impact?

Some proposals will have massive impact on end-users, including non-editors. Some will have minimal impact. What will be the impact of this proposal on our end-users? -- Philippe 01:12, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Largely incomprehensible

This proposal is all but incomprehensible unless you are technical enough to know what "well-formed" means, which I'm not. --79.72.61.252 17:01, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Even if you are, it's lacking in examples. CRGreathouse 05:33, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RegExs for a Reason

Wikimedia uses wikimarkup despite the well-known drawbacks among the developers. It's much, much, MUCH easier for a human to use and read, and that's the primary concern when working with so many people. True, if and when a WYSIWYG interface is introduced, this could change. But there is something nice at looking at a text file and have it be readable. --Lyc. cooperi 12:50, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
