From Strategic Planning

localized content

In Germany there are a lot (~50) of localized wikis, called "Regiowiki". That is e.g. a wiki of a city. The biggest regiowiki has 20.000 articles and uses MediaWiki. There is also one in France, two in the USA (daviswiki.org and omaha.towncommons.com) and two in Austria, as far as I know. A few days ago there had been a meeting of the regiowikis (RegioWikiCamp 2009) and one of the german wikipedians had been there and held a talk about using commons and OpenStreetMap with MediaWiki. --Goldzahn 23:05, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for the input and additional information - I have added a link to your comments onto the main page (as additional examples of localized wikis). Please add anything else that you think would be relevant for the task forces to know! --TylerT 01:37, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
