    Summary

Wikipedia for MS-DOS, designed for older computers in mind

    Proposal

This would be a Wikipedia that people with computers from the late 1980s through mid 1990s to access that don't have Windows and Internet access.

    Motivation

Schools in poorer countries and some people still use 286, 386, and the earlier 486 computers that don't come with Windows and the Internet. The idea is to make a text-only version of Wikipedia containing as much information that can fit into about 30 floppy disks per package (42 megabytes of information).

    Key Questions

    • Will this encourage people to enjoy their older computers?
    • Will this be expensive for people with older computers?
    • Should we go with 30 floppy disks a package or try a higher number?

    Potential Costs

programmers, limitations with the 3.5" floppy disks, finding the right market for "retro computer" users, trying to get people to get a comfortable encyclopedia experience with obsolete computer technology
