Against Rewards

Hi there. Good to see our idea challenged. I'm surprised it took so long :o)

As you'll have guessed, I disagree. Rewards are embedded in our culture. In our humanity I'd argue. When we perform an action I think we look for some kind of positive response. We want to know we've done well, we want to feel valued. --Bodnotbod 10:49, 27 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sure, rewards work. The studies that I've run into suggest that the *nature* of the reward is important, and that monetary rewards tend to work best for tasks that require less creative thinking. See for details Daniel Pink's talk The Surprising Science of Motivation
