Summary

Canadian French Wikipedia, similar to Proposal:Canadian English Wikipedia and other national forks such as the Egyptian Arabic Wikipedia.

Proposal

Create a new Wikipedia project consisting exclusively of Canadian French, likely at fr-ca.wikipedia.org.

Motivation

French Canadian Wikipedians need a Wikipedia that they call their own without any other form of France being permitted. They have a unique dialet that is different from France. To help preserve French Canadian culture, this would be essential in order for spelling, grammar, and cultural bias to be diminished.

Key Questions

  • How will Canadian French Wikipedia affect the growth of the classic French Wikipedia?

Potential Costs

A separate server based in Canada (perhaps either in Vancouver, Montreal, or Toronto) to better serve the French Canadian Wikipedians that will use the service. Also the obligation to twin the site with a potential Canadian English Wikipedia (Canada has two official languages).
