Create a service for new users to get phone calls from volunteer users (with more than N contribs).


New users can ask to receive a phone call from an experienced user. A wikimedia website manages the requests and the volunteers with a dedicated privacy policy.


I phoned some new users to quickly answer their questions and it really helped their participation. It is an highly valuable service for some new users.

  1. Some users may accept to give some calls, maybe two or three.
  2. Some new users like to receive answers thru the spoken medium and some of them would use such a service.

Potential Costs

Likely low. It may require some non-MediaWiki developpement and some very few server resources. It requires some work from the WMF and/or its local chapters in order to set up the service and its privacy policy.
