If this is additional to the existing Email then I would oppose this as I see no advantage to this proposal over existing talkpages. If it was instead of Email then I would oppose as we sometimes need confidentiality. If I'm reporting a breach of personal data to oversight it would be wrong to do that publicly. If I'm trying to persuade someone to stand for admin it is only polite to ask them privately by Email. WereSpielChequers 13:05, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- It won't be mandatory to use it, noone will make you resign from private chanels of comunication. I believe it would be just an aditional system of communitacion. If you'd, let's say, ask someone for the rights to use a photo from their website you should use it so everyone would see it was sent and noone would send an e-mail again if it is rejected (I think it may be an extension to OTRS), also when I send someone a notification they are using some Wikipedia content with a violation of the licence I'd prefer to do it in such a way that everyone could see it. When someone leaves a bug report I also prefer not to reply to them asking for more information using my personal mailbox, especialy in that case I can comment on the report it was asked for clarification and leave a link to a place where reply would show up so others can take a look at it even if I'm away for a few months. Many people don't want to get personaly involved or represent Wikipedia so they don't e-mail people.195.114.161.51 09:36, 13 October 2009 (UTC) My intend is to enhance the system for contacting outside users, not other Wikipedians though there could be an option to use it too.195.114.161.51 09:38, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- In which case why not use their talkpage? I think it would be an awful waste if everyone had both a talkpage and an open email system - conversations would continually get repeated and paralleled. If you really want to improve the way talkpages work then that would be different, but {{LiquidThreads}} are coming! WereSpielChequers 08:25, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- People that ain't part of the project don't have a talkpage. This is for contacting with people who do not have a talkpage.195.114.161.51 22:33, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- If you aren't part of the project why would you want an email address from the project? WereSpielChequers 21:42, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- You don't want to, but you won't get one. You will only have the correspondence between you and the members of some project aviable for everyone to see so the members of that project can cooperate.83.238.228.48 07:52, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
