From Strategic Planning

Impact?

Some proposals will have massive impact on end-users, including non-editors. Some will have minimal impact. What will be the impact of this proposal on our end-users? -- Philippe 01:13, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Automatic video rendering

It might be interesting to create a set of templates that allowed to generate videos from articles. A modern TV studio is often an artifically constructed experience anyway. One could either substitute lecturers with rendered persons or allow people to make a recording of themselves in front of a chroma key background in order to appear in the article video.

The rendered lecturers could be able to make a limited set of gestures following the templates in the article. The article could be read with ReadSpeaker, which has a very good quality for most pronounciations. Some gestures could be synchronized with the measured length of ReadSpeaker output in order to make the guestures match the speech.

This could be an especially interesting project for teenagers and promote involvement. Cooperating with schools is recommended (e.g. Apple Distinguished Schools, which should have sufficient multimedia equipment to make good recordings, but OLPCs do have cameras, too). --Fasten (Wikinews: Aktion Deutschland Hilft asks for donations after the earthquake in Indonesia) 13:05, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
