Proposition
J’ai collaboré activement pendant 3 mois, au début de cette année, essentiellement pour améliorer des articles sur les musiques et artistes non classiques.
J’ai posé plusieurs fois des questions précises, à la fois de forme et de fond, mais je n’ai obtenu aucune réponse satisfaisante. Déçu, j’ai donc arrêté ma collaboration et je ne la reprendrai pas avant d’avoir obtenu satisfaction.
Si, dans mon domaine, WP continue avec l’organisation, les règles et le rythme actuels, les portails concernés seront devenus, bien avant 5 ans, un ramassis d’articles bancals, boiteux, incomplets, tant que ne sera pas sérieusement organisé et suivi un minimum de coordination/ harmonisation dans chaque portail : en clair un certain nombre d’éditeurs (ou de responsables d’édition, si vous préférez ce terme) cooptés parmi des volontaires ayant fait leurs preuves.
Sur le long terme, je n’ai aucune réponse /solution à la lancinante question du bénévolat vs salariat (ou alors j’en écrirai des pages !). Mais comme vous savez très bien qu’on ne s’improvise pas journaliste ou documentaliste (ni correcteur), au moins faites en sorte de ne pas décourager/rebuter les bonnes volontés compétentes :-)
En tout cas, ce serait vraiment dommage de gâcher un projet aussi passionnant…

I have been actively participating for three months, since the beginning of this year, essentially in order to improve articles about non-classical music and artists.
I have repeatedly asked precise questions, about structure and principles, yet I have never received any satisfactory response. Disappointed, I have already stopped editing and will not resume until being satisfied.
If, in my domain [the French Wikipedia], Wikipedia continues with the current organization, rules and production rate, the portals concerned will become, well before five years, a bunch of unstable, limited, incomplete articles, as long as will not be seriously organized and followed a minimum of organization/ harmonization in each area. It is clear that a certain number of editors (or those responsible for editing, if you prefer the term) should be chosen among volunteers who would already have shown their skills.
In the long term, I have no answer or solution to the pressing question of volunteers vs. paid workers (otherwise I would write pages about it!). But as you know that nobody can suddenly become a competent journalist or documentary maker (nor proofreader), please ensure that good, competent volunteers do not get discouraged.
In all cases, it will be a real shame to ruin such a passionate project…
